Over the last few weeks, I have been working with my four and a half-year-old daughter on reading. I have started to observe the steps she is taking to becoming an independent reader and thought I would share these with my blog readers.
You know the drill – your child’s grade 1 teacher reaches out to you and informs you that your darling son/daughter’s handwriting is not up to scratch. You then proceed to arrange a meeting with the teacher who brings a range of handwriting samples from perfect replication of the font through to what the school considers acceptable handwriting. She then proceeds to tell you your darling son/daughter is reluctant to write and their handwriting is not cutting the mustard.
